About the role

The White Earth Reservation Business Committee is seeking a Kinship Life Pathway Navigator to provide individualized support to families enrolled in the WECARE program. This includes conducting formal assessments, developing family support plans, and serving as a navigator and support for families, White Earth Tribal Programming, and other community agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit families with children ages 0-18 years old using the WECARE Universal Intake Form to identify financial, educational, employment, and/or health needs.
  • Plan and coordinate monthly opportunities for families to build social networks and enhance cultural connections.
  • Communicate with families and programs to ensure goals are being accomplished.
  • Develop and coordinate family support plans and team meetings with White Earth Tribal programs and outside agencies.
  • Monitor family progress by compiling, reviewing, and reporting data.
  • Comply with reporting standards regarding child abuse or neglect as a mandated reporter.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a related field such as early childhood development, medical field, or human services, or at least 3 years of direct experience providing services to individuals and families facing economic, educational, employment, and/or health challenges.
  • CPR certification and Community Health Worker or Peer Recovery Coach certification, or willingness to obtain after hire.
  • Valid Minnesota Driver’s License and insurance for travel between sites and related businesses.
  • Ability to pass a background and drug screening.

Skills

  • Knowledge of and ability to follow policies and procedures of the White Earth Tribal Council and Health Department.
  • Understanding of the demographics, culture, customs, lifestyles, and geography of the White Earth Reservation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with families, co-workers, and representatives of other agencies.
  • Proficiency in using personal computers to prepare reports, maintain records, search for and compile data.
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve in the field, and handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Sound ethics, judgment, and ability to make immediate decisions in difficult or emergency situations.
  • Tact, emotional stability, and patience when dealing with distressed individuals.
  • Ability to comprehend, process, and apply verbal and written information.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain paper documents and electronic files accurately.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Effective and efficient use of area resources.
