About the Role
This is an entry-level position within the Kingman Police Department. Police Recruits undergo a comprehensive training program to prepare for a career in law enforcement.
Responsibilities
- Attend and successfully complete the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (AZPOST) Basic Academy
- Participate in departmental training programs, including classroom instruction, physical fitness training, and field exercises
- Learn and apply principles of law enforcement, including criminal law, traffic law, patrol procedures, and community policing
- Develop skills in report writing, emergency response, and conflict resolution
- Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and ethical standards
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age by the time of graduation from the police academy
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Arizona driver’s license or ability to obtain one prior to employment
- U.S. citizenship or legal resident status eligible for employment
- No felony convictions or domestic violence offenses
- Pass a comprehensive background investigation, including criminal history, driving record, and credit check
- Pass a physical agility test, written examination, oral board interview, psychological evaluation, and medical examination (including drug screening)
- Ability to meet AZPOST physical and mental standards for peace officers
