Job Goals

To support a Kindergarten classroom by assisting the teacher with classroom responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree in Early Childhood or related field preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working with young children.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to support young children.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to implement teacher-developed instructional modifications and activities.
  • Able to coordinate with and work as a member of a team that includes special and general educators, other building staff, related service personnel, clinicians and parents.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assists with classroom management.
  • Establishes emotionally supportive rapport with students.
  • Ensures information is shared between teachers when assistant is primary support person or other organizational meetings, as well as professional development as determined by principal.
  • Assists Classroom teacher with implementation of curriculum.
  • Performs other related duties as delineated by teacher or other supervisor.
  • May supervise drop off, dismissal, lunch and recess.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • 183-day, full time position.
  • 35 hours per week (average of 7 hours per day).
  • The school day begins for students at 8:00 AM and ends at 2:30 PM.
  • Specific schedule to be determined by the Building Principal.

SALARY

  • Based on AEA Unit D Contract.
  • 7 hours per day, 183 work days.
  • This position is eligible for benefits and is required to enroll in the Town of Arlington Retirement System.
