Key Responsibilities
- Implement a developmentally based curriculum that encourages children to explore, discover, and construct knowledge through thinking, questioning, experimenting, and fun.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of teaching early literacy and numeracy, using data to effectively drive instruction.
- Integrate creative expression and an appreciation for the arts into daily classroom activities.
- Maintain strong classroom management utilizing trauma-informed school beliefs and effective de-escalation techniques.
- View each child as a whole person, supporting their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Value and accept children for who they are, fostering an image of the child as capable and competent.
- Cultivate positive, consistent relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Maintain an approachable, listening-first presence; respond to parent questions, concerns, and ideas with respect and strict confidentiality.
- Establish an effective classroom communication system (e.g., newsletters, classroom social media groups, and individual outreach) to keep families engaged.
- Work collaboratively with the adults in the classroom to accommodate each child's unique developmental level.
- Model a professional, positive attitude in all interactions with families and colleagues.
- Share teaching ideas and materials generously with co-workers.
- Actively collaborate on new ideas and constructively implement feedback provided by peers and administrators.

- Appropriate Grade-Level Endorsement Required (029/020)
