Kindergarten Teacher (2026 - 2027 School Year)

Performance Responsibilities

• Believes strongly that all students can learn and is responsible for creating an educational environment where all students can succeed.
• Provides learning experiences in language arts, social studies, pre-reading, arithmetic, science, art, physical education, and music using the Board of Education’s adopted course of study and other appropriate activities.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter as required by state law and administrative regulations.
• Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for both verbal and visual instruction of pupils with varying levels of mental, physical, and emotional maturity.
• Provides individual and group instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of each pupil and helps them transition smoothly into school.
• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior necessary for effective participation in all activities while maintaining an informal atmosphere.
• Evaluates academic and social growth of pupils and keeps appropriate records.
• Communicates with parents through various means, holds parent conferences to discuss pupil progress, and interprets the school program.
• Identifies pupil needs and collaborates with other professionals to assess and address health, attitude, and learning issues.
• Creates an effective learning environment through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
• Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities and self-selected professional growth activities.
• Selects and recommends the requisition of books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
• Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
• Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs as required.
• Sponsors pupil activities and participates in faculty committees.
• Performs other tasks as requested by the Principal or Superintendent.

Terms of Employment

Term of employment: Ten-month year.
Salary: To be established by the Board.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
