As a Kindergarten Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment that fosters student learning and personal growth. You will develop lesson plans aligned with established guidelines, build rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop foundational skills, attitudes, and knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a program of instruction adhering to CSUSA’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.
• Create purposeful and effective lesson plans that maximize time on task and incorporate real-world, application-based examples.
• Review student records to understand individual abilities and needs; maintain accurate and complete student records.
• Maximize educational achievement for each student using a variety of learning modalities and differentiated instruction.
• Conduct frequent diagnostic assessments of student learning, provide activities to address needs, and generate progress reports.
• Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
• Assign lessons, correct student work, and review oral presentations.
• Coordinate class field trips as required.
• Prepare students for state-required achievement assessments.
• Stay current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory; contribute to the ongoing curriculum revision process.
• Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Maintain positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing to support growth.
• Ensure the classroom is clean, safe, and displays student-generated work as appropriate.
• Implement relevant policies governing student conduct and develop fair classroom/playground behavior rules.
• Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and participate in curriculum planning with staff.
• Plan individual and group learning activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
• Incorporate diagnostic information from students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs) into planning.
• Take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, and facilities for effective instruction.
• Establish cooperative relations and communicate clearly with parents/guardians via appropriate mediums.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and participate in parent communication activities.
• Engage in extracurricular activities to foster a positive school culture and support students and staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
• Valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
• Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship).
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Command of grade/subject-specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.
• Understanding of and commitment to CSUSA’s values.
• Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
• Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.
• Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.

Work Environment

The role involves usual office working conditions. Physical demands include light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Travel within or outside the state may be required. The position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
