About the role

The Springfield Public Schools seeks a dedicated educator to join our team. This position involves meeting and instructing assigned classes, planning a curriculum that meets individual student needs, creating a supportive learning environment, and assessing student progress.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times
• Plans a program of study that addresses the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
• Guides the learning process towards achieving district curriculum goals
• Employs various instructional techniques and media, consistent with physical constraints and student capabilities
• Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required
• Maintains accurate records and maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning
• Diagnoses learning challenges and collaborates with district specialists as needed
• Takes necessary precautions to ensure safety and follows the school's code of conduct
• Supervises paraprofessionals and evaluates their work
• Participates in professional development and contributes to the evaluation process
• Attends meetings and supports the district's initiatives
• Contributes to the decision-making process regarding budget, facilities, and curriculum
• Maintains a positive and professional environment

Requirements

• Highly qualified with required competency in the content area
• Appropriate Early Childhood and PreK-2 educator license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
• Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and expected within 5 years

Qualifications

• Content/program area educator license (Early Childhood) and grade level (PreK-2) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
• Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and expected within 5 years
