Kindergarten Teacher Aide

Location: 623 S Nardo Ave, Solana Beach, CA 92075 • Reports to: Principal • Part-time, up to 24 hours/week • FLSA Status: Exempt • Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour based on experience and education

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the teacher in coordinating and implementing the curriculum of the school and rules of the classroom
• Help in supervising the children in the classroom as well as on the playground
• Work cooperatively and efficiently as a team member
• Assist teacher in setting up the learning environment and guiding children through learning activities
• Supervise and monitor classroom and playground activities to ensure a safe and positive learning environment
• Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Religious Qualifications

• Active, practicing Roman Catholic (Required)
• Respects and understands a Catholic school philosophy

Professional Qualifications

• Experience working with children
• Positive references and recommendations
• Clear criminal background check (a clear Livescan for the Diocese of San Diego is a condition of employment)
• Professional demeanor
• CPR and First Aid certification upon hire
• Cleared TB test to work in a Licensed Childcare Facility
• Completion of the Diocesan Safe Environment Protocol upon hire
• Basic understanding and acceptance of Catholic School philosophy, goals, and objectives
• Understanding of child development and skills necessary to relate to the students
• Can-do, positive attitude
• Works cooperatively and collaboratively

Physical Requirements

• Spend the majority of the day standing in the classroom; frequently hold objects while demonstrating
• Sit occasionally when developing lesson plans, grading, etc.
• Walk through the classroom and maneuver in tight spaces between desks
• Walk on both even and uneven surfaces
• Kneel, squat, stoop, or bend to interact with students
• Reach at, below, or above shoulder height; may require trunk or neck rotation
• Assist in moving children’s desks and chairs to change classroom layout
• Occasionally lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds from the office to classrooms
• Regularly required to be inside the classroom and mobile within the school facility
• May be required to travel to city and county-wide locations for trainings or workshops
