This role reports to the Dry Side Superintendent at our Dodson, LA lumber mill. As Kiln Supervisor, you will role model Weyerhaeuser’s core values of safety, integrity, citizenship, sustainability, and inclusion by working with other leaders and your team to create a positive environment with open, honest communication among associates.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily leadership and oversight of hourly production employees.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient execution of work for three continuous drying kilns and the team responsible for site grounds maintenance.
  • Role model safe work practices and facilitate team meetings and training.
  • Ensure proper job and safety rules are understood and followed.
  • Identify safety, environmental, quality, and production issues; conduct incident investigations and follow-up.
  • Meet production standards and goals.
  • Develop and train associates, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Support training and development plans to improve skills, knowledge, and team performance.
  • Improve key performance indicators and drive continuous improvement of operational functions and department budget cost effectiveness.
  • Proactively resolve employee issues, build teamwork, and ensure adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Coordinate reliability work with maintenance teams.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in manufacturing, maintenance, and/or wood products drying processes.
  • Work-related experience in leading and ensuring compliance with safety initiatives.
  • Data-driven decision-making using solid analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for managing multiple priorities in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates.
  • Willing and able to work all shifts, including weekends.
  • Strong work ethic, good judgment, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in wood products manufacturing or related field, or demonstrated relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of safe and efficient operation and maintenance of green fuel burner continuous drying kilns (CDKs).
  • Hands-on experience working with dry kilns and sawdust-fired combustion systems.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance Planning software such as Maximo or SAP.

Pay

Target salary range of $69,300–$104,000 based on skills, qualifications, and experience. Eligible for an Annual Incentive Program with a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay (potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target).

Schedule

Full-time, day shift (1st). Willingness to work all shifts, including weekends, is required.
