KILN OPERATOR - D SHIFT (NIGHTS)
About the role
Join the largest manufacturer of tile and natural stone in the United States as a Kiln Operator at Dal-Tile, a subsidiary of Mohawk Industries. This role involves monitoring the movement of tile through the kiln firing process for ceramic tile production in a family-friendly, team-oriented environment that values work-life balance and promotes from within.
Responsibilities
- Monitor tile entering and exiting the kiln to ensure the process operates efficiently.
- Inspect tile for defects.
- Record kiln temperature every hour during the shift.
- Collect tile samples for lab analysis.
- Monitor equipment or processes and report problems to supervisor.
- Follow ISO operating procedures and control plans.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation, adhering to all safety and health requirements.
- Be present at the workstation during shift change.
- Complete all required training, including ergonomic, safety, health, and environmental.
- Identify and adjust workstation arrangement, work practices, and workflow to reduce risk factors.
- Report issues to supervisor/manager when risk factors cannot be controlled.
- Report symptoms of injury/illness and concerns when first noted.
- Participate in incident investigations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Strong record-keeping skills.
- Good listening skills.
- Accurate measurement capability.
- Ability to understand and speak basic English.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to:
- Stand, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.
- Walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally sit, climb, or balance.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Use close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
The associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and may experience a wide range of temperatures. The noise level is usually loud.
