KILN OPERATOR (B Shift) (El Paso, Texas, United States, 79934)

About the role

Join the largest manufacturer of tile and natural stone in the United States as a Kiln Operator at Dal-Tile, a subsidiary of Mohawk Industries. In this role, you will monitor the movement of tile through the kiln firing process for ceramic tile production.

Responsibilities

• Monitor tile entering and exiting the kiln to ensure the process operates efficiently.
• Inspect tile for defects.
• Record kiln temperature every hour during the shift.
• Collect tile samples for lab analysis.
• Monitor equipment or processes and report problems to supervisor.
• Follow ISO operating procedures and control plan.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation, adhering to all safety and health requirements.
• Be present at the workstation during shift change.
• Complete all required training, including ergonomic, safety, health, and environmental.
• Identify and adjust workstation arrangement, work practices, and workflow to reduce risk factors.
• Report issues to supervisor/manager when risk factors cannot be controlled.
• Report symptoms of injury/illness and concerns when first noted.
• Participate in incident investigations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Strong record-keeping skills.
• Good listening skills.
• Accurate measurement capability.
• Ability to understand and speak basic English.

Work Environment

• Regularly required to stand, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.
• Must be able to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• May occasionally sit, climb, or balance.
• May lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
• May be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
• Noise level is usually loud.
