Responsibilities
- Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
- Follow safety protocols and report hazards to ensure a safe work environment.
- Operate and oversee the functioning of kilns to ensure temperature and drying schedules are met.
- Monitor kiln schedules to ensure materials are processed correctly.
- Complete regular moisture readings to ensure they meet moisture targets.
- Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of kiln equipment, ensuring all systems work efficiently.
- Maintain detailed records of kiln temperatures, times, and other pertinent data.
- Report issues or anomalies to supervisors.
- Follow safety guidelines to minimize risks related to high temperatures and hazardous materials.
- Coordinate with production teams, including production, maintenance, and quality control, to meet targets and resolve issues.
Requirements
- Forklift certification.
- Attention to detail to monitor and adjust processes for quality and efficiency.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices for working with high-temperature machinery.
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Understanding of kiln operation, temperature control, and materials processing.
- Mechanical skills to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on kiln equipment.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit and/or stand for an entire shift.
- Reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs.
- Frequent bending at the waist and twisting of the upper body.
- Occasional stooping.
- Frequent lifting above waist height and over 50 lbs., depending on the machine center.
- Constant repetitive use of hands.
- Constant standing/walking; occasional sitting.
- Vision correctable for near and far, including depth perception.
- Hearing preferred for awareness of surrounding machinery, mobile equipment, and emergencies.
Work Environment
- Ability to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, and airborne particles (e.g., sawdust).
Pay
Starting at $26.83 per hour.
Schedule
4:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Thursday through Saturday and every other Wednesday.
