About the Role

The Kids Director serves as the primary leader of Kids Ministry at their Campus, providing vision, leadership, and oversight for all children's ministry environments. This position is responsible for recruiting, developing, and leading volunteers while creating safe, engaging, and Christ-centered experiences where children can encounter Jesus. The Kids Director partners with families, collaborates with campus leadership, and oversees ministry operations to ensure excellence in every Kids Ministry environment within the building or mobile campus model.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for kids ministry, ensuring alignment with the church’s mission, values, theology, and overall ministry strategy.
  • Develop and lead age-appropriate large group worship services, teaching environments, and small groups.
  • Recruit, train, equip, and disciple volunteers and ministry leaders while building healthy teams and developing future leaders who support ministry growth.
  • Prayerfully prepare, teach, and communicate biblical truth in a manner that is engaging, relevant, age-appropriate, and consistent with the church’s statement of faith and doctrinal beliefs.
  • Build strong relationships with children and provide appropriate encouragement, prayer, and spiritual guidance while maintaining appropriate ministry boundaries and safeguarding practices.
  • Partner with parents and caregivers by building meaningful relationships and providing communication, resources, and opportunities that equip families to disciple and spiritually support their children.
  • Collaborate with church staff and ministry leaders to ensure effective transitions and continuity between children’s and student ministries.
  • Maintain alignment with all CBC campuses, the CBC Nav Team, and established ministry strategies and standards.
  • Hold weekly meetings and oversee a team of key leaders within the ministry, including personal discipleship, goal-setting, accountability, problem-solving, and leadership coaching.
  • Ensure all child safety, security, and classroom procedures are consistently followed.
  • Supervise kids’ ministry during weekend service hours and Wednesday midweek activities.
  • Maintain a partnership with other departments and ministries to ensure organizational clarity.
  • Build relationships with other children's ministry leaders and churches to stay informed on ministry trends, best practices, and opportunities for continued growth.
  • Follow up with new families and assist them in taking next steps within Community Bible Church.
  • Oversee volunteer scheduling, ministry communication, attendance, and operational systems.
  • Manage Kids Ministry resources, supplies, equipment, purchasing, and budget responsibilities.
  • Lead all Kids Ministry setup and teardown operations, ensuring ministry environments are prepared, organized, and restored each weekend.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience leading volunteers in a ministry, nonprofit, educational, or organizational setting.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Preferred: 2–5 years of ministry leadership experience.
  • Preferred: Experience leading Children's Ministry in a church setting.
  • Preferred: Experience developing volunteer teams and leadership pipelines.
  • Preferred: Experience with Planning Center and church management systems.

Schedule

This is a full-time, exempt position requiring 40+ hours per week. The Kids Director must be available to work weekends, evenings, and special events as ministry needs require.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to move throughout classrooms, storage areas, and ministry environments.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and ministry supplies up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to assist with the setup and teardown of portable Kids Ministry environments.
  • Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending, and crouching.

Work Environment

Duties are performed in a variety of settings to include outside, office, and technical environments where the work may be fast-paced and hectic at times. The employee must effectively handle the normal anxieties associated with the job and manage multiple projects in a service-oriented environment. Environmental noise levels are minimal.

Other Duties

  • Attend worship regularly and special services/events as appropriate.
  • Maintain daily disciplines of Bible study, prayer, and preparation.
  • Must exemplify The CBC Way of Honor, Hospitality, Hustle, High Capacity, and Humility.
  • Live a life beyond reproach according to I Timothy 3.
  • Maintain personal accountability and relationships with staff members.
  • Must be a CBC Member or willing to become one.
