KGO - Weather Anchor (As-Needed) (Expression Of Interest)
About the Role
ABC7 KGO-TV, the ABC-owned television station serving San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, and the greater Bay Area, is seeking an accredited meteorologist or experienced weather anchor to produce and present daily weather forecasts for newscasts, digital, and social platforms. The meteorologist/weather anchor will use weather software systems to create and present forecasts for various newscasts and the KGO-TV/ABC7 24/7 live stream.
This is an as-needed/daily hire position with shifts on weekday or weekend mornings or evenings, depending on staff vacations.
Responsibilities
- Produce and present daily weather forecasts for newscasts.
- Create and present forecasts for digital and social platforms.
- Develop forecasts for the KGO-TV/ABC7 24/7 live stream.
- Use weather software systems to generate forecasts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (required).
- Meteorology degree (preferred).
- AMS Seal certification (preferred).
- Knowledge of the San Francisco Bay Area.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience reporting weather on-air.
- Solid resume reel demonstrating superior on-camera presentation.
Pay
The pay rate for this role in San Francisco, CA is $415/day + overtime. The base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
