About the role
KGO-TV/ABC7, the ABC-owned television station in San Francisco, is seeking an accredited meteorologist or experienced weather anchor to produce and present daily weather forecasts for newscasts, on digital and social platforms. The meteorologist/weather anchor will use weather software systems to create and present forecasts for various newscasts. This employee will also create forecasts for digital and social platforms and for the KGO-TV/ABC7 24/7 live stream.
This is a freelance/daily hire position. Shifts will be weekday or weekend mornings or evenings, depending on staff vacations.
Responsibilities
- Produce and present daily weather forecasts for newscasts
- Create and present forecasts using weather software systems
- Develop forecasts for digital and social platforms
- Provide weather updates for the KGO-TV/ABC7 24/7 live stream
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Meteorology degree (preferred)
- AMS Seal (preferred)
- Knowledge of the San Francisco Bay Area
Skills
- Prior experience reporting weather on-air (preferred)
- Solid resume reel showing superior on-camera presentation
Pay
$415/day + overtime
This position is covered under SAG-AFTRA – KGO-TV Newspersons Agreement.
