About the Role

The Key Carrier directs front-end staff and operations in the absence of the Assistant Center Store Manager. This position ensures optimal front-end customer service, performance, productivity, and compliance, while maintaining front-end and parking lot conditions. The Key Carrier supervises and trains Front-End associates to align with The Save Mart Companies' mission and winning behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Provide customers with a remarkable shopping experience by demonstrating, training, and holding store associates accountable for excellent customer service.
• Manage front-end performance and productivity, including over/short tills, check collection, cash over/short, WIC/EBT compliance, bottom-of-basket checks, circle savings on receipts, items checked per minute, front-end efficiency, and "Three’s A Crowd" standards.
• Directly lead Clerks and Clerk Helpers with a focus on accountability and achieving high business performance.
• Ensure front-end and parking lot conditions meet standards (check stand merchandising, floors, cleanliness, shopping carts, bags, etc.).
• Perform store balancing (bookkeeping) functions to enhance the shopping experience.
• Handle front-end management tasks, including refunds/returns, loans/pick-ups, check authorization, etc.
• Monitor and improve the customer experience on the front end.
• Occasionally maintain total store operations in the absence of store management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum age: 18 years.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Strong training and supervision skills.
• Proficiency in counting, math, and accurate documentation.
• Knowledge of front-end operations, check stand procedures, and compliance/work rules.

Qualifications

• Education: One year of college or vocational school (or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience).
• Experience: One year of prior work experience, including a minimum of 6 months in Grocery/Retail.
• Availability to work a variety of required retail hours.

Physical Demands

Store environment requiring the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, use stairs, reach, pull, and lift objects (up to 40 lbs).

Pay

Hiring pay range: $16.90 - $27.20 per hour.
