Kennel Attendant

About the role

Hickory Small Animal Hospital is seeking a part-time Kennel Attendant to join their dedicated team.

Responsibilities

• Feeding, medicating, and walking our furry guests (dogs and cats).
• Offering boarding guests emotional support and love while their owners are out of town.
• Maintaining clean and sanitized conditions to ensure guests' health and comfort.
• Giving baths and doing nail trims.
• Keeping accurate electronic records detailing guests' eating habits, eliminations, appetite, and behavior changes.

Requirements

• Experience working as a kennel technician.
• Experience handling or caring for dogs and cats in a professional or volunteer setting.
• Ability to administer oral and topical medications to animals.
• Comfortable handling animals of all sizes and temperaments.
• Strong attention to detail for monitoring animal health and maintaining accurate electronic records.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including walking dogs frequently and standing for long periods.
• Willingness to assist with cleaning and sanitation duties.
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across different departments (boarding, salon, veterinary).
• Basic computer skills for electronic record-keeping.
