Kennel Assistant

About the role

The Veterinary Kennel Assistant plays a crucial role in the care and comfort of our patients at Animal Care Hospital. They provide essential support to the veterinary team, focusing on patient husbandry, care, and general housekeeping duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide meals and walks to boarding patients
• Administer medication as directed
• Maintain cleanliness and stock supplies in kennels, common spaces, and treatment areas
• Monitor for any medical or behavioral concerns and document observations

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience as a veterinary kennel assistant or kennel technician preferred
• Related experience in animal care such as boarding/doggy daycare attendant, FFA/4H background
• A genuine passion for animal care and patient wellbeing
• Confidence working with dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
• Strong awareness of animal behavior and willingness to learn patient safety and handling techniques
• Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative
• Ability to stay organized and maintain a clean, safe environment
• Dependability and attention to detail
• A positive, team-oriented attitude
• Physical ability to meet the demands of a hands-on animal care role
• Strong observational skills and willingness to communicate patient concerns to the veterinary team
• Interest in learning and growing within the veterinary profession

Pay

This is a part-time position, with a flexible schedule and availability needed Saturdays and Sundays. Compensation: $15-$17 per hour, for each hour worked. The company will consider the applicant's education, training, or experience related to the job position, geographic location where the work is performed, and other relevant factors during the process.
