Kennel Assistant

About the role

The Kennel Assistant (KA) supports the growing Animal Emergency & Specialty Hospital of Grand Rapids. The role involves providing animal husbandry care, patient restraint, restocking supplies, bathing/grooming, facility and grounds maintenance, participating in team meetings and trainings, and other responsibilities as assigned.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Animal husbandry care
• Patient restraint
• Restock hospital supplies
• Bathing/Grooming as needed
• Facility & grounds maintenance; ensure a clean hospital, including restrooms and lobby cleanliness, light maintenance in parking lot areas, etc
• Participate in team meetings and trainings as requested
• Continue to learn and develop a strong skill set
• Participate in staff training as requested
• Maintain a positive attitude and have fun!
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

• A passion for animals
• Strong leadership skills
• A commitment to providing exceptional care
• Fluent English skills (speaking & reading)
• Fluency in multiple languages is a plus

Qualifications

• Full-time hours
• Shift times will vary between 10pm-7am, 4 days per week
• Schedule includes every other weekend and 3/6 holidays a year
• Pay starts at $15 an hour + $3/hr shift differential
