Position Overview The KBE Development Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Knowledge-Based Engineering (KBE) tools that automate repetitive Body engineering and CAD tasks across Stellantis programs. In this role, you will embed core engineering standards and design rules directly into digital workflows—improving design speed, accuracy, and efficiency across Body-in-White (BIW), closures, and exterior components. Key Responsibilities CAD Automation & Tool DevelopmentTranslate complex engineering requirements, design rules, and manufacturing standards into reusable KBE applications and parametric CAD templates.Build automated routines to streamline component creation, geometry updates, automated drawing generation, and design validation.Integrate packaging constraints, GD&T, dimensional management, and manufacturability requirements into digital workflows. Process Optimization & Engineering CollaborationPartner closely with BIW, Closures, and Exterior engineering teams to identify high-impact opportunities for design automation.Validate KBE applications against representative vehicle program use cases, resolving geometry, code, and system integration issues.Drive continuous improvement by updating legacy tools, incorporating user feedback, and refining automation algorithms. Deployment, Documentation & User SupportMaintain robust version control, application documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and user guides for all KBE software.Lead user onboarding, technical training sessions, live demos, and day-to-day troubleshooting for engineering teams. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.Domain Expertise: Experience in automotive Body engineering, specifically within Body-in-White (BIW), closures, or exterior systems.CAD Proficiency: Hands-on expertise in 3D parametric CAD modeling using CATIA or Siemens NX.Software Development & APIs: Hands-on programming experience using CAD-specific APIs and languages such as Python, VBA, C++, or C#.Engineering Logic: Proven ability to read engineering standards and translate them into executable design rules and algorithms.Core Competencies: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and cross-functional communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Stellantis Experience: Prior program experience and familiarity with Stellantis engineering processes and release systems.Specialized KBE Tools: Demonstrated experience with CATIA Knowledgeware / EKL (Engineering Knowledge Language) or Siemens NX Open / Knowledge Fusion.PLM & Manufacturing: Familiarity with PLM environments, engineering change management (ECM), GD&T, and automotive stamping/assembly manufacturing processes.
