Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day classroom operations and ensure the safety and welfare of students during on-site and off-site activities.
  • Plan, organize, and implement an instructional program that guides students to fulfill their academic potential.
  • Create and maintain a caring, supportive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with state standards and the school’s instructional framework.
  • Use data and assessments to drive instruction and identify clear teaching objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Teach students not only facts but how to apply knowledge to solve real-world problems.
  • Adapt and enrich the curriculum using multiple strategies, online tools, and technology to engage students.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students, including those with varying abilities.
  • Effectively manage classroom behavior and maintain discipline while safeguarding student health and safety.
  • Provide opportunities for student development outside the classroom, such as clubs, physical activities, and service learning.
  • Maintain Highly Qualified Teacher status as defined by federal guidelines.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on student progress through regular record-keeping (e.g., grades, attendance, behavior).
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve student learning and contribute to school-wide decision-making.
  • Develop and manage extracurricular activities to foster a strong school community.
  • Integrate literacy, critical thinking, and analytical skills into instruction.
  • Facilitate discussions, debates, and collaborative projects that promote civic engagement and informed decision-making.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding progress and behavior.
  • Participate in professional development to enhance instructional skills and cultural competency.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Contribute to a positive school culture and participate in school-wide initiatives and events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education (preferred).
  • Certification/licensure in the appropriate teaching area.
  • Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) status in the assigned teaching area.
  • Experience with personalized student advising and motivation.
  • Proven classroom instructional and management skills.

Working Conditions

This role is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment. The employee may interact with students who exhibit behavioral risks.

Physical Requirements

The role requires some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, as well as significant fine finger dexterity. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Supervision

This position operates with occasional, minimal guidance but follows established work methods. There are no direct reports associated with this role.
