K-5 Instructional Aide - Prairie Creek Elementary (26-27)

Purpose

Aid teachers with miscellaneous duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Completion of 48 hours at an institution of higher education*
• Obtain an associate's (or higher) degree
• Pass a State approved assessment assessing the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics (or reading writing readiness)
• Maintain high levels of confidentiality regarding student and staff information

Performance Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher
• Administer tests, homework, make-up work, etc.
• Attend meetings and in-service presentations
• Communicate with supervising instructional staff and professional support personnel
• Absorb and/or convey information related to job functions
• Assist supervising teacher in maintaining instructional material and/or manual and electronic files/records
• Provide instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities
• Demonstrate dependability, promptness, and regular attendance
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student and staff information

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions

• Demonstrate required mobility, agility, and dexterity to work with students
• Move, lift, pull, or push objects
• Remain attentive to students in noisy, crowded environments with numerous interruptions
