K-3 Lead Teacher
About the role
The Kindergarten Teacher role at Great Hearts Academies involves providing a welcoming and nurturing classroom that guides students to build a deep sense of wonder and a love of learning. The curriculum includes Spalding Phonics, Singapore Mathematics, and rich content in History, Science, and Literature.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
- Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
- Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
- Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.
Requirements
A bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role. Certification is not required for general education. All majors are welcome. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.
Qualifications
This position requires a passion for education and a commitment to the Great Hearts mission of becoming good, intellectually and morally. Applicants should have a strong foundation in early childhood education and a desire to work in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Skills
Effective communication skills, ability to manage a classroom, patience, creativity, and a love for children are essential. Experience working with young children is preferred but not required.
