Responsibilities
- Supervises employees engaged in providing professional social work services to juveniles and oversees programs in the district.
- Plans, assigns and evaluates the work of employees responsible for ensuring delivery of services to juvenile offenders in a defined geographical area.
- Provides supervision to district staff providing necessary direction and conducts employee performance evaluations according to regulations and statutes.
- Oversees training of juvenile workers.
- Counsels and guides juvenile workers on the more complex and difficult cases.
- Directs and oversees the resolution of crisis situations with juveniles and their families.
- Attends District Court sessions and community meetings.
- Serves as a member of local community committees and workgroups.
- Compiles monthly reports on district operations and monitors budget.
Requirements
- A master's degree in social work, sociology, juvenile justice, corrections or a related field.
- Four years of professional experience in providing services to juvenile offenders and/or adult offenders.
- A valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification.
- Maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree supplemented by two years of professional social work experience can substitute for the required master's degree.
