JUVENILE JUSTICE SPECIALIST 1/2/3

About the role

The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) seeks compassionate, committed, and resilient individuals to serve as Juvenile Justice Specialists at levels 1, 2, or 3. These frontline professionals supervise youth in secure care facilities, promote rehabilitation, and ensure a safe and structured environment.

Responsibilities

• Receives on-the-job training in various areas of the unit by security and treatment personnel
• Maintains locked doors and gates as per facility policy
• Follows facility policies in control and prevention of contraband on grounds (youth, employees, and visitors)
• Makes security checks of buildings, grounds, fences, doors and gates to ensure security is intact
• Refers problems and/or deficiencies to proper authority
• Follows procedure for searching youth, living quarters, etc. to control contraband
• Handles emergency situations such as riots, fire, etc.
• Installs and maintains security measures when escorting youth inside and outside the facility

Requirements

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED
• One year of experience in any field
• At least 18 years of age
• No felony convictions or charges pending
• No history of sexual abuse or sexual activity facilitated by force or coercion
• No prior convictions for crimes listed in R.S. 15.587.1 (c)

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of juvenile justice systems and procedures
• Physical ability to perform job duties

Pay

• Juvenile Justice Specialist 1: $1,400.00 biweekly
• Juvenile Justice Specialist 2: $1,504.00 biweekly
• Juvenile Justice Specialist 3: $1,608.80 biweekly
