About the role
The Mohave County Juvenile Detention Center seeks an individual to oversee, monitor, and manage juveniles. This position may work day, swing, or graveyard shifts. Positions are ongoing and open until filled.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and monitor juveniles in the Mohave County Juvenile Detention Center
- Work with juveniles to ensure compliance with rules and regulations
- Ensure safety and security of the facility
- Collaborate with other departments to support juvenile rehabilitation
- May assist with training and development of new staff members
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED
- One year experience as a juvenile detention officer or related detention facility experience preferred
- Valid Arizona Driver's License at the start of employment
- Annual COJET training completion
- Pass pre-employment background investigation, including drug/alcohol screening
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Qualifications
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Experience with juvenile populations and behavior management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical stamina and ability to perform physical tasks
Skills
- Effective communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally
- Knowledge of juvenile justice systems and procedures
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and data entry
