Description of Work

The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct supervision to direct care staff responsible for the safety and security of pre- and post-adjudicated delinquents, status offenders and juveniles bound over to Superior Court; as well as provide direct supervision to aforementioned juveniles. This posting is for multiple positions, across different shifts. Shift information will be provided further in the interview process.

Must have a valid driver's license upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the hiring of staff, the training and orientation of new employees, the assignment of work, performance management, and ensuring staff meet and maintain certification requirements and comply with policies and procedures.
• Provide direct supervision to juveniles and staff, impacting the protection of state property and the physical safety of juveniles, staff, and the employee.
• Work is subject to close personal and physical contact with juveniles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience working with the juvenile/family client population and/or related human services experience, one year of which must have been in a secure or residential treatment facility.
• OR Associate degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience working with the juvenile/family client population and/or related human services experience, one year of which must have been in a secure or residential treatment facility.
• OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be at least 20 years of age.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must pass a criminal background check, drug screening test, psychological test, sexual risk screening test, and physical (to include vision and hearing).
• Must attend and successfully complete and pass the Juvenile Justice Officer Basic Training Certification Program (three weeks, including consecutive overnight stays).

Skills

Preference may be given to applicants who demonstrate:

• Knowledge of institutional programming techniques for delinquent juveniles.
• Knowledge of various treatment and rehabilitative modalities.
• Experience working with juveniles.
• Experience with establishing rapport with a variety of treatment professionals.

Schedule

Work hours for this position vary to meet the needs of juveniles and their families. Must be able to work on-call hours, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.

Pay

Salary range: $41,655 - $72,897. Salary will be based on relevant qualifications, internal equity, and budgetary considerations pertinent to the advertised position.
