About the role
The Ted Lechner Youth Services Center provides pre-trial detention for youth who have been incarcerated in a restrictive housing environment, separated by temporary housing for youth in a non-restrictive shelter care environment. This position involves supervising youth in both environments, conducting intake interviews, providing basic care and supervision, and monitoring and assessing the behavioral and emotional characteristics of the youth.
Responsibilities
- Supervise youth in a restrictive detention environment and shelter care facility;
- Conduct intake interviews of youth and document youth behaviors and emotional status;
- Provide basic care and supervision to youth;
- Maintain order and monitor activities;
- Monitor and assess the behavioral and emotional characteristics of referred youth;
- Provide additional supervision to prevent self-harm as needed;
- Communicate orally and in writing about any changes to youth to all members of the youth care facility.
Requirements
- Graduation from a college or university of recognized standing with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or closely related field;
- Or Associate degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or closely related field;
- Two (2) years’ experience working with youth in crisis;
- A combination of education, training, and experience totaling four (4) years in a closely related field will be considered;
- Valid Montana driver’s license;
- CPR certification (within 6 months);
- CPI certification (within 6 months).
Qualifications
- Must pass driving and background check.
