Work Term: September 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027
Salary: $4000 for the year
Expectations
- Organize and oversee one or two activities per month (minimum 16 events/school year), each lasting approximately 1.5 to 3 hours.
- Distribute activities over the three weekend days (Friday evening, Saturday evening, Sunday afternoon or evening) to maximize tween availability; timing may be adjusted based on the activity.
- Develop programming with guidance from the Rabbi and Youth Committee Chair, incorporating tween feedback, ideas from prior years, and your own creativity.
- Book venues, communicate transportation and event details, and manage financial budgeting and cost recovery (a small stipend is available to offset program expenses).
- Access to the Temple building/security for programming.
- Submit a short year-end report to the Youth Committee Chair summarizing JYG activities for 2026–2027.
Responsibilities
- Establish a tentative calendar of events with dates at the start of the school year.
- Create and maintain an email distribution list (and optionally a WhatsApp group) for parents and tweens.
- Advertise events and activities, including creating flyers for Temple and TIRS newsletters.
- Communicate with parents, tweens, the Temple Youth Committee Chair, Temple Israel Religious School, Temple administration, and FROSTY advisors for joint activities as needed.
- Manage the budget for events and activities.
- Potentially engage in fundraising or apply for micro-grants through the Jewish Federation of Ottawa CONNECT.
