Junior Superintendent of Construction - VID 222923

Responsibilities

• Assist in the review of drawings, specifications, and contract documents to retrieve data for construction materials and procedures.
• Inspect on-site construction materials used by contractors for small or single trade construction projects.
• Assist in the inspection of portions of large State building construction projects to ensure contractor adherence to specifications, contracts, and work standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Travel is required (approximately 50%).
• Possession and maintenance of a valid New York State Driver’s License or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.

Requirements

• Two years of experience assisting in the management of the building construction phase for construction projects from inception to completion in one or more of the following areas:
  • Cost estimating
  • Construction planning and scheduling
  • Contract document reading and interpretation, including agreement and conditions, plans and specifications
  • Construction inspection to ensure compliance with building codes
• OR an associate’s degree in engineering, engineering management, engineering science, engineering technology, architecture, architecture technology, landscape architecture, construction technology, or construction management.

This position does not offer telecommuting. You may be reassigned on a temporary or permanent basis to any project in the state regardless of location.
