About the role
Visionist is seeking a Junior Software Engineer for a fully funded opportunity on a large prime contract. The role involves working on innovative projects that enhance mission capabilities through specialized tools.
Responsibilities
- Implement and support infrastructure for AI model inference under the guidance of senior engineers
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of production AI services and applications, including retrieval augmented generation (RAG) and autonomous agents
- Aid in implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions for AI services and platforms
- Support automation of infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles
- Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of AI platform components
- Work within ambiguous problem spaces while learning to define structured solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to shared engineering standards and best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
- Additional 4 years of experience may substitute degree
- Experience contributing to production systems
- Familiarity with high-volume web application architectures
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes concepts and containerized deployments
- Proficiency in Python
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to unfamiliar technologies
- Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate, ask questions, and learn from teammates
