Junior Software Engineer

About the role

Visionist is seeking a Junior Software Engineer for a fully funded opportunity on a large prime contract. The role involves working on innovative projects that enhance mission capabilities through specialized tools.

Responsibilities

• Implement and support infrastructure for AI model inference under the guidance of senior engineers
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of production AI services and applications, including retrieval augmented generation (RAG) and autonomous agents
• Aid in implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions for AI services and platforms
• Support automation of infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles
• Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of AI platform components
• Work within ambiguous problem spaces while learning to define structured solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to shared engineering standards and best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
• Additional 4 years of experience may substitute degree
• Experience contributing to production systems
• Familiarity with high-volume web application architectures
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes concepts and containerized deployments
• Proficiency in Python
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to unfamiliar technologies
• Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate, ask questions, and learn from teammates
