Junior Property Accountant
About the role
This position is an onsite role based out of our Richmond, VA office.
Responsibilities
- Support the financial operations of a commercial real estate portfolio
- Assist with accounting activities
- Maintain accurate financial records
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for properties
- Process accounts payable and receivable related to property operations
- Reconcile bank accounts and property-level balance sheet accounts
- Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and support month-end close activities
- Review invoice coding, approvals, and supporting documentation
- Partner with Property Managers, tenants, and vendors to address accounting inquiries and resolve financial issues
- Communicate with property managers, tenants, and vendors regarding financial matters
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 years of progressive property accounting experience within the commercial real estate industry
- Proficiency with Yardi, AvidXchange, or similar property management and accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
Skills
- Proficiency with Yardi, AvidXchange, or similar property management and accounting software

- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
