Junior Project Controls Analyst

Responsibilities

  • Supports Program Managers with project planning, budgeting, estimate at completion, and financial performance monitoring.
  • Aids in tracking project costs, labor utilization, funding, and expenditures against established budgets.
  • Prepares recurring financial reports, cost analyses, and project performance metrics.
  • Maintains project burn rates and identifies potential cost or schedule variances.
  • Supports revenue forecasting and monthly financial projections.
  • Utilizes Deltek Costpoint to review project financial data, labor charges, budgets, and funding.
  • Assists with project setup, modifications, labor category updates, and project maintenance within Costpoint.
  • Supports reconciliation of project financial information and validates data accuracy.
  • Generates standard and ad hoc Costpoint reports for project and executive leadership.
  • Monitors contract funding, ceilings, closeouts, and periods of performance.
  • Aids in tracking contract deliverables, labor hours, and funding status.
  • Collaborates with Contracts and Finance to ensure accurate project records.
  • Develops and maintains project dashboards, spreadsheets, and status reports.
  • Performs variance analysis to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
  • Supports data collection for financial audits and customer reporting requirements.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Program Managers, Finance, Contracts, Human Resources, and Business Operations to support successful project execution.
  • Responds to requests for project financial information and reporting.
  • Assists with special projects, process improvements, and financial analysis initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 1–3 years of experience supporting project controls, finance, accounting, or government programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and basic financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Deltek Costpoint highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting federal government contracts.
  • Familiarity with contract types including Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP), Cost-Plus, and Time-and-Materials (T&M).
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Excel dashboards, or financial reporting tools.
  • Basic understanding of project scheduling or earned value management concepts.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, if required.
