Junior Patent Agent - Chemistry

About the role

We are seeking a technology advisor or patent agent for our life sciences patent practice in our Silicon Valley, Boston, or New York offices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses.
• Analyze patents and scientific papers to assist patent attorneys on patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
• Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
• Participate in post-grant procedures at the USPTO.

Requirements

• Ph.D. (or M.D. with research experience) in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or a related field.
• Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Broad scientific knowledge in biotechnology.
• Initiative, fast learner, and ability to work well with others.
• Must be a registered USPTO patent agent or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam and otherwise meet the requirements for registration as a patent agent.

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000 - $155,000, depending on qualifications, experience, education, certifications, and location.

Schedule

Full‑time position with an in‑office requirement of at least three days per week.
