Junior Model Based Systems Engineer

About the role

The Modeling, Analytics, and Simulation Sciences (MASS) Operation at NASIC is seeking a Model-Based Systems Engineer to support the development of digital architecture.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside engineers and software developers to develop authoritative engineering models contributing to national defense.
• Use systems thinking to solve complex problems.
• Apply Systems Engineering principles and approaches, particularly MBSE methodologies and tools.
• Collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment, including with external contractors and government customers.
• Communicate technical documentation and artifacts through strong written and verbal skills.
• Analyze architecture and engineering data to solve complex problems, recommend solutions, and improve products and processes.
• Develop and maintain models, artifacts, and integrated datasets for complex systems and systems of systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace, or related technical field.
• Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Systems Engineering principles and approaches.
• Experience with MBSE methodologies and tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, IBM Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming languages, including Java, C++, or Python.
• Experience with DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), or other architecture frameworks.
• Knowledge of aerospace/defense systems and processes.
• Experience with modeling and simulation (M&S) tools and practices.

Skills

• Knowledge of SysML for modeling architectures and system behaviors.
• Experience analyzing architecture and engineering data to solve complex problems.
• Ability to develop and maintain models, artifacts, and integrated datasets for complex systems and systems of systems.
