About the role

Our client is building next-generation recycling technology that turns end-of-life magnets into a domestic source of critical materials, cutting the country's reliance on overseas supply. It's early-stage, well-funded work with real strategic weight behind it.

They're looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer to help build out and test their proprietary drive-disassembly system as they move from prototype to full commercial deployment. If you like getting hands-on with real machinery, solving problems nobody's solved before, and growing fast inside a small, focused team, this is a rare shot at ground-floor impact.

Responsibilities

  • Support the scaling of a mechatronic system; assist with project execution across all phases, from prototype build to early commercial deployment.
  • Develop hands-on working knowledge of the company's proprietary machinery, including hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical assemblies, and PLC-based control systems.
  • Contribute as a technical team member and problem-solver, supporting system troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration across engineering and operations teams.
  • Learn and support system integration, building an understanding of how mechanical and electrical subsystems interact, including solenoid valves, pneumatic actuators, linear guides, hydraulic pumps and cylinders, sensors, and control logic.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of machine issues, participating in hands-on diagnostics, reviewing system data and logs, and coordinating with senior engineers, technicians, or vendors as needed.
  • Support the transition of prototype systems to commercial-scale deployment, with hands-on involvement in equipment assembly, testing, and system build-out, while assisting with design refinement and validation activities.
  • Travel to and support field deployments, making sure performance aligns with expectations.
  • Capture real-world feedback to inform design improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Manufacturing disciplines).
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in engineering, product development, or manufacturing environments.
  • Comfortable working directly on the shop floor, assisting with machinery build-out, testing, and commissioning alongside technicians and operators.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship, now or in the future.

Skills

  • Experience in CAD platforms, specifically SolidWorks.

Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • A ground-floor seat at a fast-growing, well-funded company solving a real supply chain problem.
  • Room to grow as the team and the technology scale.
