About the role

This role supports Okland Construction by performing hands-on maintenance, minor mechanical repairs, and equipment delivery to ensure our buildings, tools, and job sites operate safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools, machinery, and building systems using standard hand and power tools.
  • Diagnose minor mechanical issues and complete repairs using manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Inspect and test machinery to identify malfunctions and determine required repairs or adjustments.
  • Operate welding equipment and cutting tools for fabrication and repair work.
  • Document repair work, maintenance costs, and supply requisitions accurately.
  • Organize warehouse and storage areas to maintain accessibility, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Assist with general building maintenance, including A/C filter changes, window cleaning, and coordination of maintenance vendors.
  • Fulfill material requests by pulling, sorting, labeling, and distributing stock items.
  • Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including loading and unloading deliveries using a forklift, inspecting shipments for damage and accuracy, and notifying recipients of incoming deliveries.
  • Follow all safety protocols while working around machinery, moving equipment, forklifts, and active construction environments.
  • Deliver and pick up tools, equipment, and materials from project sites as needed.
  • Maintain accurate service records and assist with tracking preventive maintenance schedules for company equipment.

Requirements

  • 3–4 years of maintenance or mechanical experience or equivalent training.
  • A Class B Commercial Driver License; forklift certification preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with construction tools, materials, and repair methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and repair manuals.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs., work on uneven surfaces, and perform climbing, kneeling, and other labor-intensive tasks.
  • Commitment to safety in environments with machinery, electrical equipment, weather exposure, and loud noise.
  • Reliability and consistent attendance in a role where focus and attention are essential.
