Junior Loan Officer - Mortgage
Job Summary
The Junior Loan Officer under the guidance and mentorship of Loan Officers learns to interview mortgage applicants, complete loan applications, identify required documentation, and support the loan process. They also develop networking strategies, strengthen professional and community relationships, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
About the Role
This role involves working closely with Loan Operations to support loan processing, assisting with loan pipelines, document collection, and customer communication. It also includes assisting with post-closing customer follow-up and contributing to market visibility and business growth.
Responsibilities
- Interview mortgage applicants and accurately complete loan applications within the Point of Sale (POS) system
- Identify and collect required documentation for specific loan products
- Submit complete and organized mortgage files to processing
- Analyze customer financial profiles and credit documents to align with Bank's lending guidelines
- Develop effective networking strategies and methods for developing referral sources
- Support Loan Officers in daily loan processing activities, including reviewing loan pipelines, coordinating document collection, and communicating with customers
- Aid Loan Officers in collecting additional information as needed throughout the loan lifecycle
- Assist Loan Officers with post-closing customer follow-up to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
- Contribute to strengthening professional and community relationships within assigned markets through targeted outreach and networking activities
- Support Loan Officers in generating new business opportunities and maintaining the Bank's visibility within the marketplace
- Demonstrate ongoing knowledge and adherence to all applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including BSA/AML and Privacy standards
- Keep registration information up to date and maintain NMLS ID registration in good standing
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a loan officer training program preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with loan processing systems are required. Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously is necessary.
Qualifications
Experience in customer service or sales is beneficial. A strong work ethic and commitment to meeting performance goals are required. Knowledge of mortgage products and industry trends is helpful.
