About the role

FedTec is seeking a junior Java developer to support the USTRANSCOM Reference Data Management (TRDM) system at Scott AFB, IL. In this role, you will be the third developer on a team of seven for a period up to 9 months, as the permanently assigned developer is on military leave for the duration.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and remediate website bugs as part of an 8-week release cycle with 2 other developers.
  • Remediate open STIG items.
  • Remediate open Fortify items.
  • Create, extend, and correct JUNIT tests for TRDM source code to improve code coverage.
  • Investigate, propose, and implement automated website testing for TRDM in AWS GovCloud.
  • Perform all duties on NIPR using a USTRANSCOM-provided laptop, credentials, and VPN access.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of Java development experience.
  • Meets DODI 8140 standards for workrole code 632, System Developer Intermediate, which can be met with a BS in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Software Engineering, OR relevant certifications (CSSLP, GCLD, or GSEC).
  • Current CompTIA Security+ CE certification.
  • Ability to remotely support 10-15 hours per week of after-hours Java development.
  • Working knowledge of AWS GovCloud, RHEL9, Eclipse IDE, GitLab, Atlassian JIRA, and OpenText Fortify.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, especially kanban.
  • Excels on a small team with multiple roles and quick-changing priorities.
  • Works independently but collaborates well with remote teammates.
  • Working proficiency in MS Office products (Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic project management skills, including reviewing, understanding, and applying technical documentation.
