Junior Inspector

Join CHA Consulting, Inc. as a Junior Inspector and gain hands-on experience in transportation construction projects in Columbia, SC or Charleston, SC.

About the Role

Work alongside seasoned inspectors to observe project activities, document construction progress, and verify work complies with plans and specifications. This role offers outdoor fieldwork on highways, streets, roadways, and other transportation structures.

Responsibilities

• Observe and monitor construction activities for compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards
• Record field observations, measurements, and computations to verify work performed
• Prepare clear, detailed reports and maintain accurate project records
• Coordinate or conduct quality assurance testing, inspections, and surveys

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Engineering Science, Construction Management, or related field preferred
• No prior experience required; prior construction or observation experience a plus
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications; knowledge of construction techniques
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Experience with AWP is a plus
• Strong math, communication, and teamwork skills
• Valid driver’s license required; extensive travel may be required
• ACI and South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) Earthwork and Concrete Roadway certifications preferred

Pay

Salary Range: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour. Salary is based on qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and industry standards.
