Junior Estimator

Key Responsibilities

• Afford assistance in coordinating the total estimating effort for assigned bids and projects.
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and support the preparation of detailed cost estimates.
• Analyze project risks and incorporate historical data into unit costs and man-hour estimates.
• Afford support in evaluating subcontractor and vendor quotes.
• Communicate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to resolve scope or pricing questions.
• Review final estimates and assist with applying strategic cost factors.

Field Exposure Requirement

• Participate in site visits for projects during the bidding phase to better understand scope and conditions.
• Complete a field engineering rotation on projects you assisted in estimating, providing onsite support as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 1+ years of heavy civil estimating experience preferred but not required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret construction drawings.
• Basic understanding of construction methods and terminology.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and adapt.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Experience with estimating software (HeavyBid), scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera), or similar tools is a plus.
