Responsibilities
- Afford assistance to the Lead Estimators in generating estimates and necessary proposal documents for bids/proposals in a timely manner.
- Communicate with the owner, client, engineers, subs, etc., to resolve issues and provide the most comprehensive and cost-effective estimate.
- Thoroughly understand the bid documents to submit Request for Information (RFI) for engineer/architect/owner review in a timely manner.
- Perform labor, material, general conditions, and equipment take-offs, including identifying indirect and direct costs.
- Create positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Create project schedules utilizing Primavera P6 (or Microsoft Project).
- Assess various project execution approaches to determine the most cost-effective and technically acceptable option.
- Develop detailed execution plans to be submitted with proposals.
- Create procedures, protocols, and guidelines for future estimates using previous project data.
- Provide value engineering options to the estimating team.
- Determine the technical aspects of the tasks to be carried out using the most efficient schedule sequence.
- Review incoming bid opportunities and prioritize on the bid calendar.
- Create Request for Proposal (RFP) documents for subcontractors and vendors.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of estimating experience required.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to quickly learn new software.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and solid mathematical aptitude.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to maintain positive working relationships with project managers, subcontractors, and clients.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Experience in assisting with estimates involving disciplines such as civil, architectural, mechanical (piping, HVAC), and structural within the private-industrial and public sectors preferred.
- Hold an active TWIC credential preferred.
- Proficiency in the following software: Sage Timberline On-Screen Takeoff, Primavera P6, Bluebeam Plan Grid preferred.
