Junior Estimator

About the role

This entry-level position supports the estimating team on bid preparation and change orders. You will collaborate with field personnel, suppliers, and subcontractors while developing unit-cost analyses and identifying design issues.

Responsibilities

• Study plans, specifications, addenda, permits, and contract documents.
• Perform accurate, timely quantity takeoffs.
• Assist with pre-bid meetings and bid submittals.
• Coordinate and solicit quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Analyze supplier/subcontractor pricing and obtain clarifications from owners/engineers.
• Communicate with field personnel to track and adjust unit costs.
• Monitor commodity trade prices and construction technologies.
• Develop unit-cost analyses and identify design errors, problems, and solutions.

Requirements

• B.S. in Engineering or Construction Management.
• At least one internship with a U.S. heavy civil contractor preferred.

Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Bluebeam.
• High work ethic, integrity, and ethical standards.
• Self-motivated, quick learner, and passionate about construction.
