Junior Engineer (Design)
Responsibilities
Conducting research studies, engineering investigations, and assessments related to various engineering functions.
Carrying out civil engineering tasks of moderate complexity under the supervision of an Engineer-In-Charge.
Contributing to a range of engineering tasks, from moderate to complex, within the scope of one or more specialized areas such as design, drafting, engineering investigations, cost estimation, specification writing, structural calculations, conducting field surveys, and participating in design-related site inspections.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college.
- A degree in any other engineering area or in civil engineering technology is not acceptable.
Preferred Skills:
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
- Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure work (i.e., roadway, sewer, and/or water main).
- Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards.
- A comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred).
- A valid driver's license (required).
- A personal vehicle (optional).
Qualifications
The Department of Design & Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is currently seeking Junior Engineers to join their Design Unit – Section 2.
All candidates must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.) and must present original documents proving citizenship or the legal right to work in the U.S.
