Junior Engineer, Bridge Design
Responsibilities
- Structural analyses of bridges.
- Aid in the preparation of design calculations and details.
- Aid in the preparation of contract plans and specifications.
- Aid in the preparation of construction cost estimates.
- Affix to the review of construction submittals.
- Occasional field inspections of existing structures.
- Occasional field visits to resolve construction issues.
Requirements
- Knowledge of basic structural engineering principles and techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Focus on delivering high-quality work.
- Working knowledge of relevant structural concepts of bridges and other highway structures.
- Experience with common computer applications (e.g., MS Word, Excel), experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred.
- A valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) is required.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Experience: 0 – 3 years of progressive experience in the field.
- No certifications are required.
Qualifications
Physical Demands: Must physically be able to perform field inspection work, e.g., carry/climb ladders, wade in streams, work around traffic, work at heights, etc. This job requires prolonged periods of sitting at a computer. This job requires the ability to lift up to 25lbs.
