Thiel & Team is seeking a junior Designer with 2+ years of experience who enjoys autonomy, technical details, is self-motivated, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where results are valued more than the process. Our team specializes in award-winning hospitality and multi-family amenity spaces with an emphasis on interiors. You will work with a group of highly talented professionals who produce amazing work and have fun doing it.

About the role

You will work on all phases of a project from Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), FF&E, Construction Documents (CD's), and Construction Administration (CA). We are looking for a take-charge individual, a self-starter who takes initiative and flourishes in a collaborative team environment. Hybrid work environment, but the candidate must currently live in the DFW metroplex. Authorization to work in the U.S. is required; we currently do not sponsor work visas.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience (post-graduation) in interior design, documentation, detailing, and coordination
  • REVIT proficiency required; rendering with Enscape is a plus
  • Ability to independently draft DD and CD sets using REVIT
  • Experience in multi-family and hospitality is a plus; workplace, retail, and medical office experience translate well
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor of Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited program

Responsibilities

  • Produce deliverables for all project phases including space plans, schematic design package, design development package, construction documents, submittal reviews, and revisions
  • Attend client meetings and presentations, programming sessions, field verification, and collect client objectives/information
  • Translate client’s vision into cohesive, aspirational, attainable designs within budget
  • Learn and grow knowledge about construction means and methods to translate conceptual designs into buildable documents using CAD, REVIT, or 3D imaging software
  • Initiate communication with vendors and sources to gain familiarity with a wide range of products to specify for projects
  • Select finishes, materials, and FF&E for projects
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers, etc.
  • Coordinate with General Contractor during the construction administration phase including bid review, submittal review, RFI responses, contract document revisions, and site visits
  • Lead internal and external install team, ensuring a smooth process and achieving excellence with the finished product
  • Assist with training team members on T&T drawing standards, FF&E guidance, CAD standards, etc.
  • Travel to project locations as needed for field verification, construction coordination, and contractor supervision (approximately 2-3 trips per quarter expected)
