The Role
The Junior Design Engineer is responsible for testing project components, identifying problems, and discovering solutions. They work on ongoing projects based on specifications or drawings and collaborate with teams of other engineers.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and determine system requirements.
- Design software interfaces with control systems with customer collaboration and develop hardware configurations accordingly.
- Provide cost estimates and vendor evaluations.
- Install and configure equipment according to engineered designs.
- Maintain consistent and reliable operation of legislative meeting AV-Broadcast facilities and systems.
- Monitor, test, and evaluate capabilities and performance characteristics of existing equipment, as well as new equipment installed during major systems upgrades.
- Study and evaluate new methods, technologies, and techniques for optimum use of hardware, software, control equipment and systems to provide cost-effective and reliable provision of services.
- Integrate AV systems with existing networks and software environments.
- Create, test, configure, and deploy audio and video control systems.
- Provide programming expertise for both system control and audio processing systems.
- Collaborate on system design and engineering.
- Assess and analyze customer needs as you develop effective and appropriate control and switching solutions.
- Work with system design drawings.
- Conduct technician and end-user training as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve control system programming issues.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Experience: Less than 2 years of experience in AV Installation.
- Knowledge: Intermediate knowledge in sound, lighting, control, video, and video conferencing.
- Software: Intermediate level of skill in AutoCAD.
- Specific Requirements: Ability to understand and interpret single-line connection plans, electrical building elevation plans. Ability to work a flexible schedule during the days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays depending on the ongoing project. Strong capacity to work with multiple schedules at once and under pressure. Ability to solve complicated problems. Thoroughness and attention to detail. Well-developed organizational skills. Strong relational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate ability to work well with clients (internal and external). Adapt to change easily. Strong team player and highly collaborative. Ability to travel occasionally.

Qualifications
- Good Knowledge of Office 365.
Skills
- Intermediate knowledge in sound, lighting, control, video, and video conferencing.
- Intermediate level of skill in AutoCAD.
- Specialized software and/or DSP configurations for lighting, sound analysis, calibration, commissioning dimmers, various sound and lighting consoles.
