About the role
We are looking for a Junior Design Engineer to transform the AEC design process. This involves creating detailed 3D CAD models, collaborating with architects, and developing automated design logic. The role also includes generating work instructions for manufacturing and ensuring designs are manufacturable and easy to assemble.
Responsibilities
- CAD Modeling and Detailing: Collaborate with architects to convert design concepts into high-fidelity 3D CAD models.
- Parametric Design: Work with software developers to set requirements and rulesets for parametrized modeling that can be automated.
- Work Instruction Creation: Collaborate with operations and build teams to generate assets for operators, ensuring clarity and compliance with building codes.
- Generate Details: Create details for structural, MEPF, and other systems, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Modeling Strategy: Develop and implement a high-impact modeling strategy, adapting to new tools and designs while maintaining speed and flexibility.
- Design for Manufacturing and Assembly: Understand and improve the design to remove unnecessary parts, simplify materials, and make the product easier to assemble.
- CAD Management: Organize and maintain controlled documentation of 3D models and work instruction files in a collaborative cloud environment.
- Quality Assurance: Review and revise 3D models and work instructions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project standards and regulations.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience as a Design Engineer.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
- Proficiency in Onshape (or similar CAD software like CATIA, Solidworks, CREO).
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce maintainable 3D models.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
Qualifications
- Background in the construction industry is a plus.
- Experience with wood-based construction is a plus.
Skills
- Strong background in CAD software.
- Deep understanding of parametric design.
- Experience with design automation.
- Ability to create clear and effective work instructions.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations.
