Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Junior Data Engineer / Junior Data Scientist to join an IT team in New York, NY.
Responsibilities
- Assist in data collection, cleaning, and transformation for analytics and reporting
- Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation
- Support development and maintenance of data pipelines and databases
- Collaborate with senior team members to analyze datasets and generate actionable insights
- Document processes, data definitions, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Academic experience with data-related projects (data analysis, database design, ETL, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of SQL (required)
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and relational databases
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to learn quickly
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with Python (or similar languages) for data manipulation
- Exposure to data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) through coursework or projects
- Basic understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes
- Experience with Git, Linux command line, or cloud basics
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range (New York, NY): $60,000 - $65,000 per year
- Eligible for additional compensation where applicable (bonuses, incentives) per company policy
