Junior Data Analyst - Nat Gas/LNG
About the role
As a Junior Analyst at Kpler, you will be responsible for the daily monitoring, structuring, and analysis of cargo-level and pipeline-level data. You will track major developments in the global LNG & North American Gas markets, identify emerging trends in trade flows, and contribute to building a network of industry contacts.
Responsibilities
- Support the daily monitoring of Kpler data to ensure the reliability and accuracy of services delivered
- Collaborate closely with teammates across Kpler’s global offices
- Regularly research and track LNG & US Gas market news, trends, and developments
- Identify meaningful patterns and detect disruptions in trade or pricing trends
- Respond quickly to ad hoc requests from users
- Support commercial teams in showcasing Kpler’s data and solutions to clients and prospects
- Maintain and expand datasets related to global LNG and US Gas markets
- Join client meetings to discuss market dynamics and data insights
- Contribute to long-term projects, collaborating across teams to deliver actionable insights, data improvements, and new product features
Requirements
- Graduated from an Engineering school, business school or possess an equivalent Degree
- Have 1-2 years of experience in a data-driven analyst role (This could include relevant internships, commodity market experience would be beneficial)
- Are eager to learn about the LNG & Gas markets, including the role of geopolitics, supply, demand, trading, freight, and bunkering
- Are a highly motivated self-starter who takes ownership and prides themselves on accuracy and agility
- Possess intermediate to advanced SQL and Python skills
- Are comfortable working with large, disparate, or unstructured datasets
- Have excellent analytical skills and can translate complex data into actionable insights
- Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and can manage multiple projects independently
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and can effectively engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications
- Desired Experience includes analysing commodity market data
- Exposure to LNG/ US Gas markets
- Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI
